Product Description

"This is the only book on the market designed to show guitarists how to play authentic accompaniments in all the main Brazilian styles. On the accompanying audio file (available for free download at shermusic.com), Nelson plays each exercise so the student can clearly hear and see what his role in this beautiful music is. There are also fingerboard diagrams for people who are not great readers. Nelson has been singer/songwriter Joao Bosco's accompanist for many years, one of the most prestigious gigs in Brazil. Endorsed by Tonino Horta and Joe Diorio, among others.

It's a compliment to say of this book, "you'll get out of it what you put into it" because so many guitar instruction books fall short of that standard. The author knows his stuff, takes it seriously, and pretty much expects you to do the same. This is not an "easy" method, it's an effective method and will teach you several interesting playing styles if (and only if) you really work at it.Some of the rhythmic figures are tricky at first, and the accompanying CD makes a huge difference for me.My only criticism is that since the book covers a lot of ground, there aren't necessary a lot of pages devoted to each style, and you'll have to pay close attention to the examples that are given. When I get better at it I do plan to seek supplementary material. But still the book gets five stars from me for a serious and thoughtful approach to an interesting, if somewhat difficult, realm of guitar play.
