This deluxe kit includes everything you need to build am amazing-sounding heirloom quality 3-string electric cigar box guitar, including detailed instructions written by the man himself, Glenn Watt! Glenn has taken our popular Hot Rod Parts kit and turned the dial all the way to 11, adding one of our Premium 25" Fully Fretted Hardwood necks, and a hand picked premium cigar box (Dimensions and brand will vary)! Important Note: While anyone can build a fantastic cigar box guitar (and build them well), this is a more advanced kit is geared toward more experienced DIY makers and woodworkers. There are some more advanced techniques used during construction that benefit greatly from both woodworking and cigar box guitar building experience. If you are looking for a less involved kit, please check out some of our other kits. This kit has all of the essential items you need to build a screaming electric 3-string cigar box guitar, but access to a decently equipped workshop is highly recommended. Having some scrap wood available for bracing is also recommended. I got The Chicago Premium Cigar Box Guitar kit. The cigar box I received was the Cohiba, but in white rather than the black as pictured. The CB Gitty company informs you that the box you receive may not be the one in the sample picture, as these are actual "used", empty cigar boxes, not boxes newly manufactured for the purpose. One reviewer stated his box was badly damaged. Mine was in Excellent condition. The neck is gorgeous! As also noted by the company, this is Not a kit for someone with no woodworking skills or knowledge. Though not difficult, there are things you have to figure out. One thing of note is that this particular kit (The Chicago Premium) ships with premium machine heads (tuners). These tuners, according to their listing on the CB Gitty website, are for headstocks with a thickness between 1/2" and 5/8". The Chicago Premium has a headstock thickness of 3/4". I will have to either thin the neck, or inlet the tuner washers in order to make these work. Little things like this are what you may have to overcome. No big deal. I absolutely Love the quality of this kit and am enjoying the planning and layout immensely. The company is first rate, their products first class and I highly recommend CB Gitty.com if you have an interest in Cigar Box Guitars.
