My 6 yo learned to play the guitar with this. The songs start simple and get more difficult as more chords are learned. She goes slowly and close ups of her hands make it very clear. If you have trouble, just repeat it. I don't see how this can be difficult. Some are more natural/gifted musicians than others but I think anyone can learn (or atleast get started) to play the guitar with this. My son also used vol. 2. We had borrowed vol. 1 from the library so my son, now 16, says to get this for our 7 yo. If you have kids who really care about whether or not something is cool they may not like this. If they're really motivated to learn, they may not care cause it's so good! We love Marcy and also have the ukelele video (def for younger kids~dog puppet learns with her).
