Purple has always been my favorite color and I have no plans to buy a purple guitar anytime soon, so I decided to add some purple to the cherry sunburst Epiphone Les Paul Traditional Pro that I purchased last fall. I saw that this Amazon page mentioned that the pickguard would only fit Gibsons, but I didn't see any other purple Les Paul pickguards and I figured these should still fit the arched-top Epiphone Les Pauls, which should be essentially identical to Gibsons, and that the page was likely just warning about the cheaper flat-top Epiphone Les Pauls. When I got it and put it on top of the original pickguard for my Les Paul, it seemed that it was essentially identical. However, when I took the old pickguard off and attached this one, I found the upper screw hole in the pickguard did not align well with the screw hole in the guitar. I'm not sure if this is because this is a cheap pickguard which wasn't cut 100% accurately or if it is because even the arched-top Epiphone Les Pauls are ever-so-slightly different than Gibson Les Pauls. Luckily, the cut-out for the neck pickup on the pickguard is very tight, and the pickguard seems to stay on the guitar well without the upper screw being in (this pickguard also came in a plastic bag, so I just put the old pickguard and the screw in there for now). It doesn't look great with just having a hole there and not a screw, but I don't currently perform with this Les Paul and, especially since the purple doesn't match perfectly with the cherry sunburst finish, if I ever did perform with it I would probably put the original white pickguard on. Other than how it looks with just an empty hole, I actually kind of like the idea of the neck pickup cut-out on the pickguard being tight enough to just hold the pickguard on and wish someone made a pickguard without any upper screw that worked like this, since I think just not having a screw hole there would be more visually appealing. Lastly, while my original Epiphone pickguard for my Les Paul doesn't seem super high quality, the quality of this pickguard does seem slightly lower than it, so I imagine if you are buying this for a Gibson Les Paul the drop in quality will be even greater. The main quality issues with this is that the plastic seems slightly thinner and cheaper than my original Epiphone Les Paul pickguard, and also there is some plastic fuzz on the front edge of the pickguard which I tried to take a good picture of, though had some trouble getting it clearly. Overall, this pickguard is only $7-8, so it is very inexpensive as far as pickguards go, and I don't think it is bad considering its price. I may eventually see if a luthier or someone with more technical experience than I have can cut it better and clean up the fuzz, but overall it seems nice for a cheap pickguard I can use on my Les Paul around the house. If you are playing live, you will likely want to either find a higher quality pickguard or take it somewhere to have it cleaned up so it looks nicer. And if you have an Epiphone Les Paul and are playing live, you will likely want to either get one that fits better or take this one somewhere to get someone to cut it so it fits better, especially since while the pickguard seems to stay on nicely even being more active around the house, I'm not sure if it would stay on well without the screw when performing live. So considering the cheap price, if you are thinking about getting one of these and like the color, I think you should go ahead and get it, just know you may not want to use this elsewhere except around the house and that if you have an Epiphone it may not fit exactly, even if you have an arched-top Epiphone Les Paul. I have attached before and after pictures of the guitar as well as close-ups of the plastic fuzz on the front edge of the pickguard.
