I have only done one piece so far, but it’s great. I love the arrangement.Contrary to several negative reviews, that dissed the arrangements and/or the song selections, I found this book well worth the modest price. By way of background, I have both the Larry Beekman as well as Joe Washington books (mentioned in some reviews here and clearly 'classics' for pop fingerstyle guitarists. I also have the other Mel Bay book; i.e., 'The Beatles for Easy Classical Guitar', arrangements by Mark Philips). As to be expected, the arrangements in this one (by John Hill) are clearly more complex and interesting (as well as more difficult) than in the 'easy' Mel Bay book by Phillips and generally seem geared more toward the 'advanced' beginner or intermediate player, though they do not venture far up the fret board. I do find some (but not all) the arrangements on a par with the two highly respected Beatles classical guitar books by Beekman and Washington. Moreover, this book contains many great songs (some of which seem perfect for solo classical guitar) that are not in either Washington or Beekman. Therefore, any classical guitarist interested in expanding his/her Beatles repertoire, this book is highly recommended and likely to be well worth the modest price for 31 songs, including TABs. The arrangements, for the most part are fine; my major criticism is that the chord progressions are not provided. This is NOT the Larry Beekman book (as shown in the "Look Inside" preview), nor is it the Joe Washington book. This is one of "those" Hal Leonard books. The arrangements are accessible for musicians needing to flesh out their gig book or beginning-intermediate students looking for something familiar for study. The credited arranger is John Hill. The songs are arranged in guitar-friendly tunings and none of the arrangements takes up more than 3 pages, even with the tab. Where there is melody it's clearly delineated. It's helpful that the verse, chorus and bridge sections are labeled. There's some "coda" and DS jumping-about, but that's to be expected with pop songs. I thought it was funny (but helpful) that the arranger clearly pointed-out the "outro" sections. For what it is, it's a good book. The Beekman and Washington books are better for more advanced players. Those arrangements are more thoroughly developed and more interesting but also more difficult.I have not yet played all the titles in this book. It's good to see a classical guitar Beatles book, but in my opinion, this book is not for the beginner. The intermediate player will find this book easier. The songs don't have a very definable, or obvious, melody line and uses lots of fill-in notes makes which makes it difficult to figure out what is going on. It would have been a great help to have an accompanying CD to hear what each song is supposed to sound like. I have been a Beatles fan for decades and have studied their music extensively so I know what the songs sound like when they did them, but the way these are arranged in this book, it's very hard to know what the arranger had in mind. The Arrangements are idiomatic for guitar which is advantageous, and they stay true to the Beatles' original songs. As a classical guitarist, the TAB is more annoying than it is helpful, but that might just be me. A few pieces are trickier than others. Page turns are okay for shorter pieces, but not ideal for longer pieces (but that's always a problem on the guitar).I wish it had a couple of others, such as Come Together, Hello Goodbye, or Here Comes the Sun, but oh well.I also received an edition of this book that was not as advertised and arranged by Joe Washington. I received the Hal leonard version by 'Hill'.It appears to be workable after a cursory glance and going by previosu reviews is suitable as a start up to learn the songs transcribed.I presume as I am an experienced player I will be able to embellish on the ideas myself by transposing some of the chords and adding my own style to the arrangements.Possibly a good book to use with my students as well. Will post further review after I have used the book.I like this book. I think I worked thru about 3 or 4 of the songs until I moved onto something else. The arrangements are very musical and simple enough, I only wish this book came with either audio or video reference for accompaniment. It would be a better, more complete resource. I'll pick it up again soon and get thru a few more tunes.Good for classical guitar playerThis product has only just arrived so maybe I am a bit early to leave feedback but here goes. At first glance, I am really pleased with it. The arrangements (listed below) are well thought out and on the whole work well. What I would have liked is the notation (this comes in both standard notation and tablature) to vary from verse to verse. Instead its a case of playing the verse and playing the same again. I would have liked some slight nuances that would not detract from the tune but add interest to the listener. I would recommend this product. I was unsure when reading previous reviews, which book would arrive as there appears to be two versions. This review is the book arranged by John Hill. It has 31 songs. I can also recommend Eric Schoenbergs similar book. Excellent score.Excellent transcriptions for classical guitar, not too difficult to play, and very close to the original.Warmly recommendedI often have a Beatles day. This is perfect for that.It is a top performance book. The arrangments are first class. Normally a classical guitar Beatles book. Will just give the main theme, and fill-ins. John Hill though provides detailed arrangements. A lot of the songs have the solo's as well. Such as 'A Hard Day's Night'. and 'Something'. The book has a great selection of songs. Some of the later Beatles work, are included. From the White Album. ''Goodnight' is especially good. Also 'Free as a Bird'. Makes my guitar sound excellent.A very important Beatles bookReally nice arrangements. Some comments say they are difficult to play. I don't agree. The book could have added the tempo notes as most songs should be played quite slowly, so I don't think they are difficult but certainly not for beginners. A CD would have helped as would fingering positions.
