Mine had the grooves barely machined at all, so that the high E groove is practically a scratch. Expect to do a lot of filing to make this usable. The grooves are also cut at an extreme angle, so that part of the nut has no groove at all. If that works with your guitar's geometry, fine, but the nut must be mounted at an angle or the strings aren't going to stay in the grooves and it can be a string break point. (Although if I am filing a nut, that's on me to avoid that sharp edge.) I don't consider this an issue because the nut has to have extensive filing to be usable anyway, so the user can simply use the furnished very shallow, pre-machined grooves as a guide and file her own. Also, both of these issues can be seen in the picture, although machining in the sales picture is a LOT deeper than on the version I received. Overall I might as well have bought a blank brass block, but considering the price, I basically paid for a blank brass block with some layout and rough dimension cutting already done. Not particularly impressed, but if I want another brass nut, I'll probably buy this one again. Better too shallow than too deep and/or too wide anyway. Does make me want a better set of nut files though, brass is slow going for cheap files.I'm only giving a four because I'm having to file, saw and sand but that may be my fault. It was really high and maybe I didn't measure the old one as well as I thought. Jury's still out, I'm still adjusting nd tweaking it before I glue it in permanently.Keep in mind you'll still need to properly cut and fitHad to do some filing to make strings stay in. Poor machine work.Excellent! Great quality
