They are plastic. They are cheap. You knew this when you bought them. What I will say is if you do get them you may want to grab better screws. One of mine(screws) snapped while I was installing it and luckily it broke inside the wood so I could move the tree to cover the hole with the screw in it, if it was a guitar that I cared about I would have been more upset, but I also wouldn't have put these string trees on it.The roller trees are a perfect replacement for the original pressed metal string trees. It would be nice if this type of string retainer was a norm in the industry.Better than the cheap as dirt fixed treesSo far so good.
