Too often the art of comping is overlooked by the Jazz guitar student, and many instructors. This book is a must have for any serious Jazz guitar student. While plenty of books include scales, arpeggios, and even transcribed solos, this book covers the important art of what you are supposed to do when not soloing- comping or backing up your fellow musicians. It gives practical exercises that are usable for your next gig or audition, with chord diagrams. There are simple comping patterns and chords, along with more complex ones for the student who wants to advance. It covers a variety of rhythms and songs that are well played standards. I only wish Mike Di Liddo would write another book and cover some of the songs that he didn't cover here. Well done!
