There is another fine recording of this music by the composer, along with guitarist Alexander Lagoya, however, strange as it may seem, given George Shearing's sensitive piano, not to mention his very experience side-men, Shelly Manne and Ray Brown, this is far and away the preferred recording. In my opinion, the playing of Pepe Romero and Lagoya is about equal. I have no preference for one or the other. On the other hand, as a matter of interest, it might be a good idea for anyone that really likes this music, to acquire, as I did, both recordings, each in their own way, very good listening.
